Inaugural Update: No valet parking on P Street Monday and Tuesday, January 19 and 20 due to restrictions beyond our control.

This page was updated throughout the work progress of the P Street streetscape project from spring 2007 to spring 2008 as follows:

05/23/07 - HDCMS is pleased to announce that Beginning Next Week the P Street Streetscape will move into its final phase on the 2100 block of P Street.
The Streetscape Project is moving along at a strong pace. DDOT has announced plans to be finished with the 2100 block of P Street by August 1st. The project
will then move up to the 2000 block of P Street. DDOT and their contractor, Capitol Paving, plan to have the entire project completed by the end of 2007.

04/19/07 - The first phase of P Street Construction is nearing completion.  Brick sidewalks have been installed on the entire north side of the 2100 block of P Street.  In order to accommodate the next phase of construction on or around Saturday, April 21st the traffic flow pattern on P Street between 21st and 22nd Streets NW will change.  West bound traffic will flow on the north curb lane and east bound traffic will flow on the south curb lane.  The working zone will be the center two lanes.

01/09/07 - Capitol Paving began work on the North side of the 2100 Block of P Street.  This is the first phase of the P Street Streetscape Project.  It is expected that extra phase of construction will have a duration of 6 to 8 weeks.

12/13/06 - The contract has been awarded to Capitol Paving to complete the reconstruction of P Street between Dupont Circle and 22nd Street.

Capitol Paving plans to begin placing “construction warning” signage on P street next week, the week of December 18th.  A start date for construction has been set for January 8th, 2007.  On this date Capitol Paving will begin to place concrete barriers on P Street and perform electrical system improvements.  Excavation of the sidewalks and road bed will NOT begin on this date.  Excavation is tentatively set to begin in late February or early March.

DDOT reinforced with the project contractors that the business community and P Street residents must be notified of all changes to the project’s schedule and scope, as well as be included in any future conversations.
