Constituents in West Dupont:

The DC Office of Film and Television notified me that
filming for "The District" will happen on location in
our neighborhood on Thursday, August 21, 2003. Parking
for the film crews has been approved for the north
side of Q Street, NW, between 20th-21st Street and the
north side of R Street, NW, between Connecticut Ave.
and 21st Street. Drop offs for the talent will be on
21st Street, NW, between Hillyer and Q Street.
This was all originally planned for 21st Street. I
contacted the Office of Film and Television and the
producer to notify them of my concerns due to the
construction projects on 21st Street. I also spoke to
the site producer. Both said that they would consider
other options and would notify me. I was pleased to
learn today that most of the impact from 21st Street
has been moved.
The Phillips, Cosmos, and other neighbors may wish
to contact these individuals directly for additional
information:

David Kwasa, DC Office of Film and Television,
727-6608
Annie Applegarth, Site Producer for The District,
410-963-0569

While it is fun to be on TV and in the movies, I will
continue to work to balance the needs of our
residents, institutions, and businesses to ensure that
such disruptions are as minimal and transparent as
possible.

Thanks,
Vince

Madden, Paul Menard, Jay Olexa.

The show's daring directors will be Jennifer
Ambrosino, Rick Fiori, Steven Scott Mazzola, Jennifer
Nelson, Kerri Rambow, and Jeremy Skidmore.

Here's how it works...

DAY-OLD PLAYS 03
Production Schedule

8/22 - 11 PM - 12:30 AM, Source Theater: 6
Playwrights, 6 Directors, 30-40 actors, and 3
producers; 1 Stage Manager show up with 1 Prop and 1
Costume piece to lend to the cause. The Producers take
a Polaroid of each participant, everyone writes a one
sentence bio, documents what prop and costume they
brought and gets a brief debriefing (huhuhuhuh undies)
from the producers.

8/23 - 12:30 AM - 6:00 AM, Everyone goes home to sleep
except for the producers and playwrights. Producers
assign the playwrights a cast by giving each writer a
stack of Polaroids, and the writers create a 10-15 min
play for their casts, keeping in mind the props and
costumes available to the directors which are spread
out in a big inspirational mess in their writing area.
Late-nite-snax will be provided - yeehaw!

6 AM - 8 AM, Producers make photocopies of the
FINISHED scripts. (No amount of "baby,baby,please"-ing
will sway this deadline.)

8 AM - 9 AM, Directors come in and read all the
scripts (without knowing which playwright wrote which
play), then give the producers a list of their
directorial preferences which the producers will try
to accommodate (no guarantees folks!). Shows are then
assigned to the directors who should start scavenging
for props and costumes ASAP.

9 AM - 10 AM, Actors arrive, are matched up with their
directors and are given a chance to look through their
scripts while chowing down on the tasty coffee/
breakfast provided by the producers -yummmm.

10 AM - 4 PM, Rehearsals. There will be 6 Rehearsal
spaces. Every show will spend one hour in each space
before rotating. Schedule will be posted and Producers
will enforce rotation. All breaks will be determined
by the individual directors. At this time producers
will also be making the playbill and sitting in on
rehearsals to anticipate technical needs.

4 PM- 6 PM, Tech time! Tech Time! Tech Time! Casts
remain in their final rehearsal locations, until 5
minutes before their appointed tech time when they
should make their way down to the theater. Show #1
4-4:20, Show #2 4:20-4:40, Show #3 4:40-5, Show #4
5-5:20, Show #5 5:20-5:40, Show #6 5:50-6.

6 PM - 7:15 PM, Actors go away and study their lines,
producers prepare, and directors fall into a coma.

7:15 PM, Call
8 PM, Curtain
11 PM, Curtain
