Before adding anyone to the Dupont Circle Update
mailing list, I ask for the following information:
* Your full name
* Approximate residence (If you're in DC, provide
the neighborhood, and if Dupont, provide the block or
street corner.
* Who told you about the newsletter
The DCU got started in early 2000 as a way to pass on
gossip to a handful of friends. It was then expanded
to include links to local stories for my friends who
moved out of town. The mailing list has since expanded
to over 440 people.
Other than news affecting our neighborhood, I include
items concerning my obsessions: Metro, riverfronts,
pedestrian issues, grocery stores, livability in
general, and of course the odd gay bit.
I always enjoy feedback, and am even more eager to
receive tips, so don't be shy.
There is no schedule; the issues come out
sporadically, though usually it's every 10 to 20 days.
I include news sources whenever possible. Any item
without a source typically comes from observation or a
friend of a friend. These items are not always
reliable, but it's interesting if you take it in
context. Rarely, some bits turns out to be false.
The end of each DCU has a calendar of stuff which
sounds cool.
I hope you enjoy it.
Best regards,
Michael
