3/22/00:
Vertigo book store (Conn Ave s. of circle) is planning
on moving to College Park (the landlord has not
renewed their lease) - Augh! Last year we lost
Atticus Books, the year before Neal's used books on
17th - ...Book stores are what makes Dupont special.
What a shame.
In with the new... Club Monaco
(http://www.clubmonaco.com/usa/index.html) is moving
into the old Newsroom space at Conn & S. They're like
a more shi-shi Gap, more exclusive (not spread across
all USA malls, and only other DC location is G'town).
Just to the north, the old Volare will become
"Thaiphoon" (restaurant).
U St clean up day is May 13th.
Wash Post reports Woolly Mammoth (whose lease is not
being renewed by the Unification Church) is
considering using the KenCen till their new home on
7th is constructed in '02.
A building on P St is planning to paint a giant mural
of "a yellow brick road (Wizard of Oz theme)!" I
think the spot is by Bagels...Etc and Deco Cabana.
(w. of 21st St.) Actually, they're still looking for
an artist - if interested, email Annieadj@aol.com .
Annie also is organizing a public art display in the
old Circle bar building (by Lambda Rising) - they're
going to erect a giant screen and project art slides -
totally cool!
See new column in the Wash Bus Journal, written by
their editor who lives at Flr & 18 - he writes about
the changes in his neighborhood -

DC council has passed emergency legislation granting
the Fresh Fields at 14 & P a beer & wine license.
Excavation is mostly done - working on basement walls
now.
G'town news: Visit the new 3-story Art Store on M St
(east of Pottery Barn) - big opening sale! Old Nature
Store location on Wisconsin Ave will become an Aveda
Spa/Salon - you know Velveeta will be the first in
line. Clyde's plans for a floating restaurant west of
Wash Harbor is one step closer to approval - see new
NW Current for a picture of proposal - I love it.
